The Hardy Lighting White Obstruction Light is a high-visibility white LED obstruction light for helideck and aviation-critical applications. It is offered in two configurations: a 100cd unit for Final Approach and Take-Off (FATO) area marking, and a 350cd unit for Approach lighting, giving pilots clear, standards-compliant visual reference during approach, hover and landing operations.

Built on the same rugged platform as Hardy Lighting’s obstruction light range, the White Obstruction Light features a marine-grade powder-coated aluminium enclosure, microprocessor-controlled LED engine, and onboard temperature and voltage monitoring for consistent long-term performance. Engineered in Europe, assembled in the UAE, it is ICAO Annex 14 and CAP 437 compliant, IP66 rated, salt-spray tested for 240 hours, and independently photometric tested, with a 2-year warranty.

Choosing your white obstruction light: FATO or Approach

Specify the 100cd white obstruction light as a FATO light to define the touchdown zone, and the 350cd helideck approach light where a higher-intensity white obstruction light is needed to guide pilots inbound. The range is certified against ICAO Annex 14 and UK CAA CAP 437. As a helipad obstruction light in the UAE it is usually specified together with the Green Perimeter Light and the Internally Lighted Windsock.

White obstruction light on a helideck FATO area

Two Intensities: 100cd FATO & 350cd Approach

A single white obstruction light platform in two certified outputs — 100cd for Final Approach and Take-Off area marking, and 350cd as a helideck approach light. Both share the same enclosure, mounting, IP66 rating and certifications.

ICAO, CAP 437 & FAA L-810 Type B Compliant

Built to ICAO Annex 14 and CAP 437, and compliant with FAA L-810 Type B. Vertical beam profile and colour chromaticity are as per CAP437/ICAO, with independent photometric testing carried out on every unit.

Microprocessor-Controlled LED Engine

Software-controlled LED driver with onboard temperature and voltage monitoring sensors holds output stable across a wide AC 85–264V or DC 10–26V input range, suiting grid, solar and battery-powered helideck installations.

Marine-Grade Aluminium, IP66 & Salt-Spray Tested

Weatherproof powder-coated marine-grade aluminium enclosure with a breather valve to prevent internal condensation. Rated IP66 and salt-spray tested for 240 hours for coastal and marine-exposed helideck environments.

Optional Infrared (IR) Channel for NVG Operations

An NVG-compatible infrared channel is available on both the 100cd and 350cd variants, raising consumption to 14W and 20W respectively. Housing, IP rating, mounting and certifications remain identical to the standard unit.

100,000+ Hour Life & 2-Year Warranty

An aerodynamic, compact and lightweight body enables quick installation, and the maintenance-free LED engine is rated beyond 100,000 hours. Engineered in Europe, assembled in the UAE with a 2-year manufacturer warranty.

What is the difference between the 100cd and 350cd White Obstruction Light?

The 100cd version is intended for FATO (Final Approach and Take-Off) area marking, while the 350cd version is used for Approach lighting, where a higher-intensity white light is required to guide pilots during approach. Both share the same enclosure, IP66 rating and compliance certifications.

Can this light be used on offshore helidecks?

The marine-grade, powder-coated aluminium enclosure and 240-hour salt spray testing make it suitable for coastal and marine-exposed helideck environments; confirm zone classification requirements with our engineering team for offshore Ex-rated applications.

What standards does the White Obstruction Light comply with?

It is ICAO Annex 14 and CAP 437 compliant, meets FAA L-810 Type B requirements, and is independently photometric and 240-hour salt-spray tested.

Is a night-vision goggle (NVG) compatible version available?

Yes, an infrared (IR) enabled version is available for both the 100cd and 350cd variants.

What is the expected service life of the White Obstruction Light?

The LED engine has a life expectancy of 100,000+ hours and the unit is designed to be maintenance-free throughout its operational life.
